Honoring Outstanding Service
SDSU Mortar Board honored the service of several employees during its 23rd annual Emeritus Administrator, Faculty and Staff Outstanding Service Awards.

The SDSU Mortar Board National Honor Society hosted its 23rd annual Emeritus Administrator, Faculty and Staff Outstanding Service Awards Ceremony and Brunch on Saturday, Nov. 1.
This year's awardees
William Erickson, former vice president for Business and Financial Affairs, received the Outstanding Service Award for Administrators. Anne-Charlotte Harvey, professor emeritus in theatre, received the Emeritus Faculty Award.
The late Steven Collins received the award for staff, which was accepted by his son, Steven "Craig" Collins II.
About the event
Former President Thomas B. Day presided at the ceremony and unveiled bronze plaques dedicating a campus tree to each honoree.
That morning, Gene Gonzaga, president of SDSU's Mortar Board chapter, and Kaycee Gerhart, chair of the event, welcomed guests to the event.
Sally Roush, vice president for Business and Financial Affairs, spoke on behalf of William Erickson.
Peter Larlham, professor in the School of Theatre, Television and Film spoke on behalf of Harvey, and Jack Beresford, associate vice president for the Department of Marketing and Communications, spoke for Collins.
About the award and Mortar Board
The purpose of the award is to annually honor retired administrators, faculty and staff who gave generously of themselves to the university, its students and the community.
Mortar Board is a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for distinguished ability and achievement in scholarship, leadership and service.
The SDSU chapter of Mortar Board was founded in 1932 as the Cap and Gown Honor Society. In 1965, the chapter was recognized as a member of the National College Senior Honor Society, also known as Mortar Board.
