SDSU Flu Clinic, Oct. 27-31
Student Health Services will hold its Annual "Say Boo to the Flu" Clinic at the Free Speech Steps.
To lower the risk of influenza in the SDSU community, Student Health Services will be holding its annual flu vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 27 through Oct. 31 in Aztec Center, near the Free Speech Steps.
The vaccine costs $15 for SDSU students, faculty and staff; cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted. RED ID must be shown as proof of eligibility.
Flu vaccinations will continue to be available at Student Health Services after the dates of the special clinics until supplies run out.
Individuals considered to be at high risk for contracting influenza may visit Student Health Services and receive the county-provided free vaccine while supplies of this vaccine last. Free “high risk” vaccine will not be offered at the special clinics.
Flu vaccine information
In a typical year, 39,000 people die and 226,000 are hospitalized due to complications of this preventable infection.
The flu vaccine has been shown to prevent illness in about 70 to 90 percent of healthy persons under age 65.
Who should be vaccinated?
The U.S. Public Health Service recommends that anyone who wishes to reduce his or her risk of acquiring influenza should be immunized.
It is strongly recommended that people considered high-risk, such as pregnant women, caretakers, children and adolescents, and people aged 50 or older, get the vaccine.
